Professional Background
Raised in New York, NY, Dr. Chandra subsequently obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering at Polytechnic University in Brooklyn, NY. After two years as an Electrical Engineer for IBM, he decided to attend medical school at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. There he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and his fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at Rhode Island Hospital, Brown University Program in Providence, RI. During this time, he was awarded with Teaching Resident of the Year.
He has settled in Atlanta as the co-founder of Atlanta Heart Specialists.
Dr. Chandra holds board certifications in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Nuclear Cardiology.
Throughout his career, he has been involved with community service programs, including tutoring for Magnet schools in the New York area, as well as volunteering his time to area free clinics in Rhode Island and Atlanta. He has regularly published articles in local health forums and periodicals. He has been a featured consultant and lecturer on many cardiovascular disease topics, including cardiovascular disease in women and the relationship of stress on the heart.
Dr. Chandra performs cardiac catheterization, diagnostic peripheral arteriography, echocardiography and nuclear stress test interpretation and consultation.
His clinical interests include preventive cardiology and lipid management, metabolic disorders, and nuclear cardiology.
He personally enjoys skiing, hiking, kayaking, computer applications and music.
