Professional Background
Dr. Alikhani is a board-certified Cardiologist and Harvard-trained Cardiac Electrophysiologist (EP). He graduated from Tehran University of Medical Sciences where he ranked highest in his class. Then, he moved to Boston for a postdoctoral fellowship in Molecular Biology at Boston University. His research in the field led to many publications in very prestigious scientific journals. He went on to complete his Internal Medicine internship and residency at St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Hospital Center, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Following that he completed his cardiovascular fellowship at Tufts University. He further completed his Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowship at Harvard University - Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston where he was trained by some of the best in the field. His research in the field of cardiology and arrhythmia management has led to many publications as well as presentations at different conferences including the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS).
Dr. Alikhani holds board certifications in Cardiovascular Medicine, Cardiac Electrophysiology, Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac Echocardiography. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and also Heart Rhythm Society. Over the past few years he has been recognized as Atlanta’s Top Doctors by Atlanta Magazine.
His clinical interests include the management of syncope, the prevention of sudden cardiac death, the medical and catheter-based management of cardiac arrhythmias (including ablation of atrial fibrillation, supraventricular
tachycardias, Atrial flutters, and ventricular tachycardias), the implantation of cardiac pacemakers ( including leadless Micra pacemaker), defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization therapies.
He supervises a very active cardiac device clinic where his team closely monitor and help treat the complex arrhythmias in his cardiac patients.
